The 125×125 style Advert, Card and Banners are nothing new, they have been around for years, but recently they have started to become a popular way to add extra revenue to your website. And when Entrecard appeared at the end of 2007, it helped seal the fate of the little square cards popularity forever.

But in doing so it also let loose some very strange ideas about what you can do with them. A whole host of weird and wonderful adverts are now out there, but there is also a lot of plain white boxes with a bit of text slapped in them. Granted some do work, but the rest seem drab and boring and are easily overlooked, simply because you cannot read them or because they just look so plain.

Now, I’m not an expert by any means, but I do know it doesn’t take a designer to turn a 125×125 pixel box into something a little bit different – to make it legible would be great, but to make it eye catching or even make it jump out of the screen and say hey, check me out and click on me now! would be fantastic.

With that in mind, 125Cards was born and will hopefully help to show you how you can make aesthetically pleasing adverts, quickly and simply, so that they can do their job and draw in new visitors to your wonderful website, service or product.
